So, a little while ago I was at a Relief Society function. Among the girls there were two sisters that I had never seen standing side-by-side. As they stood there I thought, "WHOA!!! One has red hair, and one has dark brown hair, and they are sisters! That is totally crazy!!!"
Exhibit "A" of why that was possibly the dumbest thing I have EVER thought in my life:
A friend once told me that for whatever reason the redheaded gene is being edged out, and that sometime in the future there will be no more redheads (I have not confirmed the veracity of this statement). However, if my life is any indication of anything, I would say that redheads are soon going to take over, not fade away.
Of my 60 cousins (on both sides), there are about 13 redheads. That's in my generation alone! That's almost 22%! - please correct me if I'm wrong as math has never been my strong side! Of all of my aunts and uncles, I don't think that there is one that is a true redhead. Now, it would seem to me that having so many redheads on both sides of my family - 7 out of 12 cousins on my mom's side and 8 out of 53 on my dad's side (I counted my two sisters in both counts and my immediate family in the cousin count who are obviously not cousins but my siblings, hence the discrepancy of numbers...but I digress) - that the redheaded population is increasing, and not decreasing.
I also need to give a shout-out to Nicole, my best friend growing up, and to Dan Miller my swim coach who are also both redheads! Apparently my life was destined to be filled with them!
To all of you redheads in my life, from the bottom of my heart I thank you. I appreciate your efforts in coloring up an otherwise neutral-hair colored world.
P.S. Just as a side-note, I would like to pat myself on the back for being able to name every single one of my cousins in order to figure out the redhead numbers. That's no small feat in this family. Okay, you can get on with your lives now! :)

I really hope the red-heads aren't being edged out. I've always been partial to red-heads. You would think jr. high would've changed that...but nope.
Yeah for red hair!!! Love you!
Perhaps we should do a bronzing of Nett and Jill's red locks for posterity when all we can do is tell stories of the olden days when your sisters were red-heads... :)
There are a few "Royals" that would go balistic if red is forever gone! I love the way your mind works.
Thanks for the recognition! My hair color has changed with every pregnancy and sometimes it's hard to tell if it's still red, but at least I'll always be remembered as a redhead. And I'll always be one at heart. My red-headedness always felt more complete with my brunette twin at my side.
