My Life

I'm starting out on a voyage,
With heart full and head held high,
To sail the ocean, whether calm or rough,
Out under heaven's blue sky.
The voyage will be long and weary, I know,
But I hope many bright stars will appear.
So I'll sail my ship through calm or strife
With scarce a thought of fear.
I'll stay not here in this quiet place,
Where small ripples blow gently by,
But out on the deep, on the stormy sea,
There, out there, will be I.

Oh Highschool

Last night Dan, Jason, and I went to the Mountain View choir concert. Yes, that's right...we graced those hallowed halls of our beloved high school. Talk about walk down memory lane. As we sat there, laughing at the cheesiness of it all, and enjoying the fun of the Christmas production I went through a few emotions:

1) Profound relief that I am not in high school. Let's be honest...that's an important stage of life that I would NEVER do again!

2) A little bit of longing to be a part of a group again (choir, swimming, etc.).

3) Gratitude that I still keep in touch with a lot of my good friends.

It's always the tradition for all of the alumni to join the choir on stage for the last song (which is always the Hallelujah Chorus). When Mrs. Matthews called us up I was so excited to see who else was going to be there! Up walked Shauna, Tiffany, Jeanne, Charlotte, Dan, and probably a lot more that I didn't get the chance to see! I had to laugh as I looked around and realized that we were probably the oldest graduating class there! I got to stand by Charlotte...just like old times! She told me after we sang that she was following me (too bad I was following her)! Good thing that we mostly remembered the song!

Well, after the concert Dan, Jason, and I went down to visit Richard and Kelli. Of course that led to another couple of hours of reminiscing. Wow...there were a lot of things that I had totally forgotten! It was SO much fun to sit there and talk about all the fun times we had together.

Of course, today I wanted to blog about it all, so I had to find some pictures. That led to a couple hours of looking through all of my high school pictures and bringing back even more memories!!! I've tried to not include too many...but here's your warning: LOTS OF PICTURES!

Here are the girls of Chamber Choir! I'm pretty sure this is on choir tour when we went down to Las Vegas!! woo WOO!

Oh Mrs. Matthews...she is definitely a saint!! She dealt so well with a group of "know it all" seniors! Thanks for your patience and love!

I had to include a picture of Marshall because we often stood next to each other in choir. One of my most vivid memories of choir is Marshall giving me a "good game" (but a little longer than a typical good game) and whispering "Just go with it!" Oh those infamous words! Of course, I always stood front and center, and he would do it right as Mrs. Matthews was getting ready to start a song! Thanks Marshall...thanks a lot!

Oh we all thought we were so cool!! Ha ha! Of course, Sio and Patrick really were cool! (Student Body President and New Kid at the School!) ;)

Anyone up for the Cup Game?!! (Which reminds me...does anyone have pictures of when Chamber Choir did Stomp...or whatever we were supposed to call it?)

What would choir be without choir tour?!! This is Patrick who sang with the Florida choir that kicked all of our butts in New York! I'm not exactly sure how we got to be such good friends during the competition. I've often wondered what happened to him...he wanted to go into music as I recall. Maybe someday I will find him again! Miracles happen, right!?

Okay...these next few pictures don't have anything to do with choir. But as I said, I was having so much fun looking at all of them that I had to share some more of my memories! I hope you enjoy them as well, as many of you are in them and a part of them!!

Yea for the Catalina Biology field trip!

Yea for friends!

Yea for the BEST COACH EVER!!!

Yea for Graduation (and for long hair)!

Stress Management Course

STRESSED?

Are you uptight? Are you losing sleep at night?
Do you find it difficult to perform even simple tasks because you don't know where
life is taking you?

THEN WE HAVE THE COURSE FOR YOU!

Kimberly's Stress Release Poses

This course is taught by a Certified Master of Stress (CMS)
who has created highly effective poses to relieve and release Harmful
Stress Energies (HSE) that infiltrate your body.

Learn proper stance and form as our CMS takes you through rigorous
mind and body exercises designed to bring peace and sanity
back into your life.

WARNING: DO NOT TRY THESE AT HOME WITHOUT A CMS TO GUIDE YOU!
Performing any of these poses without proper supervision could lead
to severe back and neck injuries, leg injuries, arm injuries, or an
over-abundant release of Stress Energies (which could result
in severe lethargicism, or the "I Don't Want To Do Anything Anymore" syndrome.)
Poses should be practiced with care and in moderation.

Elder Wirthlin, We Will Miss You

I was reading news online this morning, and saw that Elder Wirthlin passed away last night. I will definitely miss his talks during General Conference. He was such an amazing example of strength and steadiness, and I am very grateful for that. One of the most powerful memories I have of Elder Wirthlin was from General Conference in April when he spoke on "Concern for the One." During his talk he started shaking, and I wondered if he would even be able to make it through. Suddenly, Elder Nelson was right behind him, holding him up, supporting him, and allowing him to deliver the message that he wanted to give. It was such a powerful lesson to me on having concern for others and being aware of our fellowmen.

I am so grateful for the leadership of the Church, and I know that all of these men truly have been called of God. I also know, even as sad as it is that we will no longer have Elder Wirthlin with us, that the leadership of the Church will continue. A new Apostle will be called, and the work will go forward. I am so grateful to know that God will never let His Gospel leave the Earth again.
